NYC PREGNANCY SESSION | KATRINA
Location: Fort Green | Brooklyn, NY
Mom to be: Katrina
NYC Photographer: David Lara
There’s something quite beautiful about pregnancy stage of a woman. The glow much like a bride to be radiates from a mother-to-be. Add a fashion twist, a brave mother that is willing to endure the cold for a short period of time on the room, and the ingredients are ready for a pregnancy session such as this one.
Having a great place becomes the cherry on the top in any session. Often times you have to be creative in ordinary spaces, but when you have a location that provides great backdrops, you’re able to take your photos to another level of amazing. In this session we had an amazing home with access to the rooftop and because it was the fall season we had amazing colors on the trees as a perfect backdrop for the first session. The challenge for this first session was that we were losing light quickly. The time from the first photo to the last one on the roof took approximately 25 minutes. So as you can see we had to move fast!
After freezing on the roof for a few minutes, we quickly moved indoors for the rest of the shoot. Here we opted for more of a traditional look and feel as with all shoots, I plan for staple photos that I know will work in almost any scenario and with the majority of people, also I also look to do non-traditional setups/poses/photos using the environment to the best of its ability. Now Katrina being familiar with modeling, made my job super easy! 🙂
And finally came the opportunity to do something with a fashion twist. We had a photo idea of a silhouette shot that we wanted to try. That lead to the lighting setup of the next series. Like in any scenario, I love to shoot a scene from different perspectives, which turned out great for this series. These are some of my favorites from this set.
